No one was hurt in A Lincoln apartment fire Thursday evening.  When Lincoln Fire & Rescue arrived at 6235 Holdrege around  6:30 heavy smoke and flames were reported from the first floor of one of the units.

Residents had already made it out safely when firefighters showed up.  The fire was located in the kitchen and extinguished quickly.  Fire, smoke and water damage were all reported in the unit where it started.

There is water and smoke damage in the remaining five units..  LFR says the fire was caused by unattended food on the stove.  Damage is estimated at $150,000 in damage.  A dog did not survive the fire.  The Red Cross is working with residents from all six apartments to find a different place to live.
