Lincoln Police have made a second arrest in the death of a 22-month-old child. On Tuesday around 9:30 a.m. 30-year-old Brittany Cook was arrested for child abuse resulting in death. Cook is the mother of the toddler.
On March 12 Lincoln Police responded to St. Elizabeth Hospital on the report of a child being seen for injuries consistent with abuse. The boy was found to have obvious signs of injury and transported to Children’s Hospital in Omaha for a higher level of care.
The child died of his injuries on March 17. Cook’s boyfriend, 32-year-old Joshua Tackett, was arrested on March 14 and is charged with child abuse resulting in death and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
“We extend our condolences to the family of the victim and ask the public to respect their privacy as they grieve the loss of their loved one,” LPD said in a statement.
