Two men were arrested late Thursday night during an ongoing narcotics investigation at 25th and U Street. Sergeant Chris Vollmer says the resident of the home left and officers watched him get into a vehicle and leave.
“Officers attempted a traffic stop for a traffic infraction, but the vehicle fled,” Vollmer says. Officers did not purse the car and returned to the area near the home. Vollmer says the vehicle returned a short time later and officers tried to make contact with the two men inside.
He says the driver and passenger both took off running. Both men were caught after a foot chase. While taking 37 year old Patrick Carey into custody, Vollmer says they found a Glock 10mm handgun, 12.8 grams of suspected methamphetamine and more than $1,300 in cash.
Police got a search warrant for the home and found 198.8 grams of suspected meth. Carey was booked on gun and drug charges along with operating a vehicle to avoid arrest and resisting arrest.
34 year old Jared Mutchie was booked for resisting arrest and obstructing a police officer.
