Nebraska Farmers Bureau Delivers Record Breaking Trade Report

A great report for Nebraska agriculture from The Nebraska Farmers Bureau today, with multiple record breaking statistics.

The report is based on 2021 USDA trade numbers released in October 2022.

Nebraska exported agricultural commodities worth $9.2 billion in 2021, surging more than $2 billion, or 29 percent, compared to 2020. The value of AG exports now consistently accounts for around 30 percent of the state’s total agricultural receipts. This continues Nebraska’s trend as the fifth-largest agricultural exporting state nationally.

Nebraska lead the nation in exports of beef, totaling more than $1.6 billion with China and Southeast Asia being top buyers. Ranking third-largest in exporting of corn almost doubling last years numbers, up 98 percent, hurdling soybeans and beef to become Nebraska’s top agricultural export. Corn accounted for $2.3 billion of the total agricultural exports, with Mexico as the largest buyer of Nebraska corn.

The report shows Nebraska topped the nation in exports of beef, totaling more than $1.6 billion with China and Southeast Asia being top buyers of beef.

According to Nebraska Farm Bureau, much of Nebraska’s agricultural trade success can be tied to free trade agreements such as USMCA.
