Nebraska State Troopers removed nearly two dozen impaired drivers from the road during this year’s NSAA State Basketball tournaments through a special enforcement effort including troopers across the state.

During the two weekends of state basketball in Lincoln, troopers across the state arrested 23 people for driving under the influence. Troopers also issued 710 speeding citations and stopped 36 drivers for speeding at 100 miles per hour or more.

There were also 22 open alcohol container, 53 driving under suspension and 13 no seat belt citations issued along with 13 for improper child restraint.  Troopers also issued 11 minor in possession citations.

Troopers assisted 311 motorists in need of help on the road statewide.  The two campaigns ran from March 1 through March 4 and March 8 through March 11.  The effort was made possible thanks in part to grant funding from the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office.
