By Tom Stanton Mar 14, 2023 | 11:45 AM

Lincoln Police were called to the area of 30th and Fletcher Avenue around 1:30 Tuesday morning after getting a call saying someone was trying to cut a catalytic converter from a vehicle in a parking lot.

Sergeant Chris Vollmer says when officers arrived and found two males underneath a Honda CRV actively cutting on the vehicle. They also saw a Hyundai Elantra nearby with a third male inside.  “The Hyundai fled the lot and the two males under the CRV fled on foot.

Police eventually identified a 17 year old as one of the suspects and took him to the Youth Assessment Center. He was referred for possession of burglar’s tools, criminal mischief, attempt by unlawful taking and resisting arrest.

Police say the Honda suffered an estimated $250 in damage. Vollmer says the Hyundai was stolen sometime overnight from Omaha.
