A Lincoln man is facing felony theft charges for trying to steal some high ticket items from three different homes. On June 25th around 7:30pm police were called to the 3300 block of N 70th Street on a suspicious vehicle.
Officers were notified that the homeowner left for a short time and returned to find a white pickup in his driveway trying to take his trailer with a race car on it. The victim reported that he had video of the incident and showed it to officers. Officers observed the man back into the driveway and start to hook up the trailer to his truck. The victim returned home and interrupted him.
The man fled the area in his truck before officers arrived. On June 26th the victim saw the man driving the truck near his residence again and provided officers with a license plate that led them to 30-year-old Cody Ryan. Officers and the victim were able to positively identify him as the person responsible. Officers contacted Ryan at his residence and he was taken into custody.
Officers were also able to identify Ryan as the person responsible for two other recent thefts. On June 23rd around 4pm a man reported that someone had tried to steal his boat and trailer in the 3700 block of W Street. The victim had security video of the incident that showed Ryan trying to take the trailer.
On June 24th around 3pm a man reported that while at work someone tried to take his motorcycle. The victim stated witnesses in the area saw the man put on the victim’s helmet, turn on the bike and rev the engine. The witnesses yelled at the man and he fled the area. The man was positively identified as Ryan.
Ryan is now facing three felony theft charges.
