A 32 year old man is facing charges after trying to rob Risky’s Sports Bar near 47th and Leighton just before 9:00 last night. Sergeant Chris Vollmer says the man had removed money from the register and several bar patrons prevented the man from leaving.
Arriving officers took Delmer Dormer into custody and he tried giving them a false name and date of birth. Vollmer says officers learned Dormer had an active warrant from his arrest.
“Dormer was aware he was being sought by police,” Vollmer says. “Once officers addressed Dormer by his real name, he attempted to flee on foot despite being in handcuffs.”
Dormer didn’t make it very far before he was taken to the ground. He suffered an injury above his eye and was taken to the hospital for treatment. After being medically cleared Dormer was booked on the outstanding warrant and cited for theft by unlawful taking and attempted escape.
