There was strong opposition to the downtown skyscraper project at Tuesday’s Lincoln City Council Monday. The nearly $90 million Lincoln Bold project would begin construction at Ninth and P Streets this year if it’s approved.
The proposed building would be 22 stories tall and would include 33 condos, 77 luxury apartments, a private club and room for businesses. “As you deliberate this, please consider that this location is not the best location for this project,” says Russ Bayer of the Bayer Family Partnership. Parking was a main concern for many who testified.
Developer Steve Glenn told the Council parking wouldn’t be a problem because the developers plan to reserve 200 spots in a parking garage. “This building is 100 percent valet. If you live in this building you have to validate your car.”
Kevin Witcher is the owner of Screamers Family Restaurant and told the council valet parking won’t matter. “Lincolnites will listen to the news and they’ll hear of this massive construction project and they’ll just stay home or they’ll go somewhere else.”
