A 22 year-old man was lodged in Lancaster County Jail Saturday morning after allegedly robbing a a gas station in Valparaiso.

NSP states that at approximately 9 a.m. the robbery was reported. Troopers, en route to the location, found a vehicle that matched the description of the  suspect’s vehicle which was traveling southbound on Highway 79, south of Raymond.

Troopers attempted a traffic stop but the driver, Christopher Short of Norfolk, fled southbound, toward Lincoln. Troopers pursued Short and report his Nissan Altima reached speed in excess of 110 miles per hour.

Troopers were able to conduct a tactical vehicle intervention at the intersection of Highway 34 and Highway 79.  After the vehicle was stopped Short fled on foot but was eventually taken into custody without further incident.

It was determined that the Altima was stolen.

Nebraska State Patrol reports that Short was lodged in jail for possession of stolen property, flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, obstructing a peace officer, possession of drug paraphernalia and additional charges.

Short also had an active warrant from Madison County
