A Lincoln man was arrested after a hit and run crash led to a pursuit in north Lincoln. At around 3:30 Sunday afternoon the Nebraska State Patrol says a trooper was on patrol on 27th Street near Interstate 80 when he saw what appeared to be two vehicles that had just crashed.

The trooper contacted both drivers. As the trooper was attempting to investigate the situation, the driver of one of the vehicles got back inside and fled the scene. The trooper then initiated a pursuit. The vehicle fled northbound on 27th Street with speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.

The patrol says the suspect then turned eastbound on Mill Road and north on 40th Street. The suspect turned right onto a rural driveway and entered a field. After a short time in the field, both vehicles reentered the driveway where a collision occurred. The vehicles left the driveway and struck agriculture equipment in the field.

The trooper was then able to take the suspect into custody.  62-year-old Donald Roth, 62 was transported to Bryan Health West Campus for treatment of minor injuries. The trooper was not injured.

Roth has since been medically cleared and has been booked into the Lancaster County Jail for driving under a 15-year license revocation, willful reckless driving, flight to avoid arrest, leaving the scene of an accident and criminal mischief. The investigation is continuing.
