The University of Nebraska Board of Regents will meet Friday, June 25, 2021, at Varner Hall, 3835 Holdrege St. in Lincoln. The meeting begins at 9 a.m. and is open to the public. The meeting also will be live-streamed at www.nebraska.edu.

Friday’s meeting will lead off with remarks from Gov. Pete Ricketts. NU System President Ted Carter also will provide a university update, including comments about NU’s proposed 2021-22 operating budget and tuition freeze, to be voted on by the Board later in the meeting.
Among the items for the Board’s consideration is the university’s 2021-22 operating budget (agenda items XI-B-5 and XI-B-6). The proposed budget includes an across-the-board tuition freeze, strategic investments in faculty competitiveness and building maintenance, and other elements that are part of a multi-year plan built last year by Carter and the chancellors to position the university for long-term success. With the Board’s approval, tuition rates across the NU campuses will remain among the most affordable in their peer groups.
Additionally, the Board will consider plans for renovation of Kayser Hall at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (agenda item XI-B-12). The space will become the home for the new Samuel Bak Museum and Academic Learning Center, a world-leading facility that will host more than 500 pieces of artwork by Bak, a painter, writer and Holocaust survivor.
The Kayser Hall renovation is the first project across the NU system to be funded through LB384, the newly approved deferred maintenance partnership between the university and state. Following the Legislature and governor’s approval of the legislation, NU successfully sold $400 million worth of bonds. at historically low interest rates to address building renewal and repair needs across the campuses.
