Get ready to pay more for your backyard fireworks display. Betsy Egan is the co-owner of Crazy Cracker Fireworks and says last year was one of the busiest due to the pandemic and expects the same this year with a few different challenges. Stories on the national news about a fireworks shortage are true.

Egan tells KLIN News, “We feel fortunate as we are sitting good and our stands are going to be loaded.”

Consumers can expect to pay more. Fireworks prices increased in China and then there is the transportation costs. She says, “Our shipping more than doubled so that will be reflected in the price.” The overseas container ship is where the bulk of the increase is but local transportation costs are up as well. Shipments are backed up and late this year.”

Don’t wait too long to buy. Egan says, “Even though our tents are loaded, people will want to shop early because when it is gone it is gone. If you have an item you really like and there is something they want to make sure they want to get, come to the stand early and get their products purchased.”

Prices are expected to increase between 5% and 30% this year, depending on the item. Larger items will be more expensive because they cost more to ship.

Egan is looking forward to a very good year and we want people to have fun, be safe and have a good time in their back yard.
