A Lincoln woman was killed in a two vehicle crash west of Palmyra on Friday afternoon. The Otoe County Sheriff’s Department says 37 year old Jennifer Hughes was turning east from Highway 43 onto Highway 2 around 3:30 p.m.
She was struck by a westbound pickup driven by an 84 year old Lincoln man. Hughes was pronounced dead at the scene and investigators say she was not wearing a seat belt.
The sheriff’s department says the other driver was taken to a Lincoln hospital for treatment, but his condition is not known. Alcohol is not suspected. The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska State Patrol are continuing the investigation.
