The National Weather Service is watching a developing winter weather system that is expected to affect parts of Nebraska Tuesday into Thursday.  It appears parts of the Panhandle, North and Northeast Nebraska will get the brunt of the weather.

Snow is expected to start Tuesday afternoon in Northwest  Nebraska and then move east Tuesday evening in to Wednesday. Several inches of snow and a gusty north wind is likely.

The Lincoln area forecast calls for mostly cloudy with a high around 40 on Wednesday along with a 50% chance of rain.  Northeast winds 15-20 mph with gusts of 25 mph or stronger.

Wednesday night a mix of rain and snow will change to all snow overnight with a cold low of 10 degrees.

Thursday will see the sun return but it will be cold with a high near 20.  Much warmer weather will be in the area for the weekend.
