Man Arrested Following Assault on an Officer

By Michael Wheeler Feb 13, 2023 | 2:17 PM

Officers had their hands full while trying to arrest Nathan Shepard, 28, in the early hours of Monday morning. Wanted on several active warrants, Shepard escaped from a first-story window of a 1900 block residence on Sumner, even after police had formed a perimeter around the area.

While attempting to flee the scene, Shepard encountered two police officers and tackled one of them to the ground. He then pulled away from the grasp of a second officer and continued his escape. Officers say Shepard was taken into custody by additional police officers nearby and transported to jail.

Shepard is facing charges for third-degree assault on an officer, a second offense for resisting arrest, and obstructing a police officer. He was originally wanted for a misdemeanor assault investigation, a previous flee to avoid arrest violation, and another misdemeanor warrant.
