A California man ended up in jail after a Seward County deputy found over 16 pounds of methamphetamine in his vehicle.  The sheriff’s department says the deputy stopped the Chrysler Voyager for multiple traffic violations on Interstate 80 near Goehner last Friday.

The deputy became suspicious that the driver was involved in criminal activity.  The deputy asked to search the car and  the driver consented. The deputy found multiple packages of crystal methamphetamine concealed in the doors of the vehicle.

The total weight was more than 16 pounds.  42-year-old Valentin Mendoza Jr. was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possession of over 140 grams of meth and no drug tax stamp.

He was booked into the Seward County Detention Center.
