An inmate who was reported missing from the Community Corrections Center – Lincoln last week is back in the custody. Nebraska Department of Corrections officials say George Piper turned himself in Tuesday and was taken to the Reception and Treatment Center.
Piper disappeared on February 2 when he did not return to the facility from his job in the community. He is serving a 35 to 52 year sentence on charges out of Red Willow and Frontier Counties that include escape, first degree sexual assault and burglary. Piper has a tentative release date of November 19 of this year and a scheduled parole hearing in August.
CCC-L is one of two community custody facilities operated by NDCS. Community custody is the lowest custody level and the least restrictive facility. Inmates are allowed to participate in work opportunities, attend school and religious services with prior approval and without direct supervision.
