Lincoln Police say a teenager has been arrested after three vehicles left running and unlocked to warm up were stolen over the course of an hour Tuesday morning.  LPD says all three cases appear to be related.

Sergeant Chris Vollmer says a 2020 Lexus UX was taken around 7:20 a.m. in the 1800 block of South 14th.  About 30 minutes later a Toyota Sienna was stolen from the 3800 block of N. 17th.  Around 8:25 a.m. a Chevy Malibu was stolen from the 1000 block of Claremont.

Vollmer says all three vehicles were eventually found, including the Malibu near 38th & Adams.  “A witness observed a male parking and leaving the vehicle. Officers contacted a male in the area who fled from them but was located with the assistance of a police service dog,” Vollmer says.

The 14 year old was identified by the witness as the one they saw leaving the vehicle.  He was referred for felony theft by unlawful taking and turned over to his mother.   Vollmer reminds residents to never leave a vehicle running and unattended.
