Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews were called to a house fire near 49th and Pioneers Blvd around 2:45 Thursday morning. “When crews arrived they found a one-and-a-half story home fully involved in fire,” says Captain Nancy Crist.
She says the $94,000 house was a total loss and no one was living in it at the time. It’s believed an electrical problem sparked the fire.
Crist says at the time of the fire snow was falling and temperatures were below freezing, which created some challenges for firefighters. “The water essentially begins to freeze the second it comes out of that nozzle so we come against a lot of ice under foot and creates some slip, trip and fall hazards for our crews.”
Crist says no firefighters were injured.
