The Nebraska State Board of Education is encouraging the public to deliver feedback in the board’s search for the next Commissioner of Education.

Former commissioner Matthew Blomstedt resigned from on Jan. 3 after a nine-year tenure. Until the next commissioner is hired, Deputy Commissioner Deborah Frison will work in the role.

McPherson & Jacobson, LLC has been hired to lead a nationwide search for a pool of suitable candidates. Ultimately, the commissioner is chosen by the elected Board of Education.

Those who wish to give feedback may complete a brief online survey found on the homepage of the Nebraska Department of Education.  All survey responses must be submitted by Jan. 31.

Survey results will be used to help guide the selection of the finalists for the position.  You can learn more about the search process online at https://www.education.ne.gov/stateboard/commissioner-search-process/.
