Three teenagers were taken into custody after Lincoln Police say they crashed a stolen truck into a parked vehicle just before 4:00 Monday afternoon. Sergeant Chris Vollmer says the truck had been left unlocked and running near 10th and B.

“The victims reported an unknown female and two males were observed near the truck prior to it leaving northbound on 10th,”  Vollmer says.

Seven minutes later officers were called to the area of 10th and D Street after the stolen truck struck a parked vehicle.  “The occupants of the stolen truck fled the scene, but officers received a report of a suspicious person complaint near 11th and B Street,” Vollmer says.  “That caller described three people standing outside their door, two of the males were observed to be wearing masks.”

The teens were eventually observed by officers near 13th & D Street.  The trio was finally contacted at a nearby Casey’s.  The victims of the stolen truck arrived at the scene and identified the suspects.   18 year Donavan Garrett was taken into custody and booked into jail for theft by unlawful taking.

A 15-year old boy was was referred for theft by unlawful taking and was booked at the Youth Assessment Center on an unrelated warrant.  A 17 year old girl was referred for theft by unlawful taking and was taken home.

LPD says damage to the stolen truck is estimated at $10,000.  Damage to the other vehicle is estimated at $20,000.
