Lincoln Police saw a man riding in the bed of a pickup around 9 p.m. on June 1st. Before the officer could stop the vehicle, it pulled into a parking lot at 27th and O Street. The officer walked up to the passenger who threw down a backpack and took off running. Officers soon caught up with 26 year old Richard Strickland but he refused to follow officer’s instructions and put up a struggle before he was taken into custody.

Officers found a syringe with a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine on Strickland. Inside his backpack officers found two six inch fixed blade knives. Strickland is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing deadly weapons. He also has multiple convictions for resisting arrest. Strickland was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, felony resisting arrest, obstructing a police officer, carrying a concealed weapon and riding outside of a motor vehicle.

Svoboda

Another passenger in the pickup, 52 year old Chad Svoboda had an active warrant for his arrest for burglary. He also had a glass pipe that tested positive for methamphetamine. He was booked on the warrant and for possession of a controlled substance.

No charges were filed against the unidentified driver.
