Matt Talbot Kitchen and Outreach is opening its doors all day Thursday as a shelter for anyone needing to escape the dangerous cold and wind. With wind gusts as high as 45 mph, the resulting blowing snow, and temperatures below zero, it is dangerous to be outdoors for a prolonged period of time.

Matt Talbot Kitchen and Outreach is usually closed on Thursdays from 1 to 5 PM for street outreach and team meetings, but the dining room will remain open during the afternoon. When those in need of shelter arrive, they will work with staff members to determine a safe place they can go to after the day is done.

The organization has as many volunteers as it needs, but Susanne Blue of Matt Talbot tells KLIN News that they welcome donations of warm winter apparel and tents.

For information on donations, call Matt Talbot Kitchen and Outreach at (402) 477-4116.
