A new study from WalletHub shows that Nebraska has the ninth smallest hiring struggle in the nation, including the District of Columbia. The study examined the rate of job openings in the latest month of study and over the last 12 months.

While millions of Americans lost their jobs and struggled financially during the peak of the pandemic, the burden has now fallen to employers to hire enough workers. This has led to delays in services and reduced business hours. That said, in some states, workers are easier to find than in others.

Whereas Nebraska is in the top 10 easiest states to find workers, Alaska is where employers struggle the most. Jobs opened at a rate of 8.3 percent in the latest month and 9.5 percent in the previous year. The state with the smallest hiring struggle is New York, with job rates opening at 5.4 in the latest month and 5.7 over the course of the last 12 months.
