The COVID-19 Risk Dial moved to elevated yellow on Tuesday as several key indicators continued to increase. The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department says the position of the risk dial is based on multiple indicators.
The health department says cases increased from 279 to 458 for the week ending December 3. Hospitalizations also increased from 49 last week to 54 on Tuesday. Wastewater surveillance continued to show an increase in the number of virus particles compared to the previous week.
“We expected to see a bump in some of our key indicators after Thanksgiving, but what we don’t want to see is our numbers continue to go up,” says Health Director Pat Lopez. “There’s still time to get an updated booster and have the benefit of added protection as we spend time with others for the holidays and into the New Year.”
The majority of recent cases have been in people who were not up to date on COVID-19 vaccines.
