Someone driving by Noodles & Company near 50th and O around 6:00 Friday morning saw a fire inside the restaurant and called 911.  LFR Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames and had to break a glass door to get to it.

Captain Nancy Crist says the fire started in the kitchen.  “There were plastic bowls sitting next to the stove and those bowls caught on fire.”  She says they were sitting too close to the pilot light.

Crist says the hood unit over the stove managed the fire until crews arrived.  Damage is minimal but an exact amount is not yet known.  The restaurant will be closed the rest of the day Friday.
