The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign is off to a good start. Major Mark Anderson says they have achieved 45 percent of their goal so far. He tells KLIN News just over $282,000 has been raised. The goal is $625,000.
Anderson says they found quite a surprise in one of their red kettles on Thursday. “One of our donors anonymously placed a gold Buffalo coin, 50 dollar piece, in the kettle. It had a value of $1,650.”
Anderson says a note that accompanied the coin said the gift was being given as an encouragement to others who have the capacity to help the less fortunate this holiday season.
Anderson says in addition to the red kettles donations can be made at LincolnRedKettle.org
