A 21 year old man is facing charges after Lincoln Police were called to an apartment at 24th and D Street around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday for a domestic assault. A 19 year old woman reported being hit in the face by her boyfriend, 21 year old Randy Johnson. The woman had injuries consistent with being assaulted.
As officers tried to take Johnson into custody, he walked away and towards the woman while yelling at the officers. He didn’t cooperate with attempts by officers to de=escalate the confrontation. When officers grabbed Johnson, he violently resisted by pushing officers into walls and he continued to thrash around. After a long struggle, Johnson was taken into custody. Both officers reported being assaulted and had cuts, abrasions and bruises from the struggle. Neither required medical treatment.
Johnson was booked on two counts of assault on an officer, 3rd degree domestic assault and for resisting arrest.
