A 25 year old man is facing charges after he was arrested during a traffic stop just before 5:00 p.m. Tuesday. Sergeant Chris Vollmer says the LPD Gang Unit were conducting surveillance on an apartment near 46th and Bancroft after obtaining a signed search warrant for the residence.
Vollmer says Kendrick Buford was observed leaving in his vehicle and was contacted during a traffic stop near 24th & A Street. Buford was detained while the search warrant was served at his home.
During the search officers found nearly 12 ounces of marijuana and drug paraphernalia along with a .40 caliber handgun and an AR style rifle. Vollmer says they determined that the handgun was stolen during a Lincoln burglary in August of 2021.
Buford was booked for the manufacture and distribution of a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a school. Calvert Elementary is less than a block away from Buford’s apartment.
He was also arrested for possession of a firearm while committing a drug violation and possession of a stolen firearm.
