By Tom Stanton Nov 10, 2022 | 11:29 AM

Lincoln Police say a 25 year old man was driving on NW 13th near West Fletcher just after 8:00 Wednesday morning when a tan Honda passed him at a high rate of speed.

Lincoln Police say the man told them a Honda nearly struck a pedestrian crossing the roadway. “The victim flashed his headlights at the vehicle, which turned into the residential area,” says Sergeant Chris Vollmer.

The victim pulled into the U-Stop near N 1st and West Fletcher and as was getting out of his vehicle the tan Honda stopped behind him.  Vollmer says 24-year-old Nicholas Vanackeren then got out, pulled a knife and threatened to kill the victim, who ran into the business.

Police say the victim then watched as Vanackeren used the knife to puncture a tire on his vehicle.  As Vanackeren was leaving the parking lot, he struck the victims vehicle and another vehicle.

Vollmer says a witness at the was station knew Vanackeren and officers were able to arrest him at his home a short time later.   He was booked into jail for terroristic threats, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony. He was also cited and released for criminal mischief and leaving the scene of an accident.
