Lancaster County Election Commissioner Dave Shively predicts about 110,000 – maybe 115,000 – voters to make it to the polls for Nov. 8’s midterm election, which is about 55 percent of eligible voters. When talking to KLIN News, Shively cited early voting numbers by mail and in person as the basis for his prediction.
“Certainly, it’s a lot lower than a presidential election,” said Shively. “We were well over 70 percent for [the] presidential election. But for midterms, we’ve been anywhere in the neighborhood of the upper 40s to the mid 50s. So, I think we’ll probably be right in that ballpark compared to previous midterm elections.
A little over 1,000 poll workers will help voters across the county’s 198 precincts. Shively advises patience and preparedness, since voters could see as many as 35 races on their ballots.
Polls open at 8 AM and close at 8 PM. KLIN will provide live coverage of the election after polls close.
