Ricketts Predicts K-12 Schools Will Return To Normal This Fall

By Tom Stanton May 17, 2021 | 1:32 PM

Governor Pete Ricketts says COVID-19 vaccinations are making a big difference in Nebraska.  He says hospitalizations have fallen below 100 for the first time since July.  Ricketts says 1.6 million doses of the vaccine have been delivered statewide. 60 percent of all people eligible have received at least one dose of vaccine and 52 percent have been fully vaccinated.

Ricketts is predicting a return to normal in Nebraska’s K-12 schools by this fall after a year of COVID-19 restrictions that included wearing masks in classrooms and remote learning.

Ricketts says virus-related hospitalizations have now fallen below 100 statewide for the first time since July. On Monday Ricketts encouraged high school seniors get vaccinated as they graduate to prepare them for summer and to further slow the spread of the virus.

He also supports children 12-15 years old get vaccinated.
