A 23-year-old Lincoln man was arrested after allegedly resisting state troopers who were attempting to remove him from Memorial Stadium during Saturday’s Nebraska football game. LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says three Nebraska State Patrol troopers were called to a section of the stadium between 8:50 and 9:15 p.m. after receiving a report of an intoxicated man causing a disturbance.
Thomas says the man was being escorted toward Gate 24 when he began pulling away from officers and wrapped his arms around one of the troopers, leading to a struggle. Thomas says the man failed to comply with several commands before he was ultimately taken into custody.
Thomas says his blood alcohol content was .172. The man was taken to one of the stadium’s Red Cross medical aid stations, where he allegedly spit on a Red Cross volunteer. The volunteer declined to pursue charges.
The man was taken to a hospital for medical clearance before being booked into the Lancaster County Jail on on misdemeanor charges of obstructing a peace officer and resisting arrest. Jail records indicate he was booked around 11:00 p.m. and released around 3 a.m.
