A 43-year-old Roca woman was killed Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash at 82nd Street and Roca Road.  Lancaster County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Ben Houchin identifies the victim as Kaycee Kuhn.

Houchin says the crash happened shortly before noon when Kuhn’s Kia Soul was traveling eastbound on Roca Road and a Nissan Rogue, driven by a 16-year-old from Hickman, was traveling southbound.

Houchin says the teenager failed to stop at a stop sign and broadsided the Kia.  “He was traveling about 70 miles per hour,” Houchin says. The speed limit in that area is 55 mph. Kuhn was pronounced dead at the scene despite lifesaving efforts by Bennett and Hickman Rural Fire.

Houchin said the Nissan Rogue was destroyed by fire shortly minutes after the teenager got out. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Houchin said investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs were involved. No charges or citations have been issued and the investigation remains ongoing.
