The Nebraska State Patrol will sell $10 pink shoulder patches throughout October to raise money for Nebraska’s Hereditary Cancer Foundation. The fundraiser is part of the national Pink Patch Project, which brings law enforcement agencies together during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
NSP’s Mikayla Hall told KLIN News the patrol’s participation has raised nearly $18,000 since 2020. “And so all the sales gathered from that is going to go directly to Nebraska’s Hereditary Cancer Foundation,” Hall said.
The patches are available at NSP troop offices in Lincoln, Omaha, Norfolk, Grand Island, North Platte and Scottsbluff. The project begins Thursday, Oct. 1, and runs through the end of the month.
Troopers also have the option of replacing their traditional shoulder patches with pink versions during October.
This marks the patrol’s ninth year participating in the project, according to NSP.
Hall said other local agencies, including the Lincoln Police Department and Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, also participate by creating and selling their own pink patches. Each agency’s fundraiser supports its work to raise awareness and money for people fighting cancer.
