Lancaster County deputies made two DUI arrests during a recent impaired-driving enforcement campaign that also resulted in dozens of speeding and traffic citations.
The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said deputies contacted 136 vehicles during the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” crackdown, which ran from Aug. 21 through Sept. 6.
Deputies issued 94 official citations and 97 warning or defect cards. Of the citations, 51 were for speeding, four were for driving during suspension and two were for open alcohol containers. The Sheriff’s Office also reported 19 registration and insurance violations, four stop-sign violations, one careless driving citation and 11 other traffic violations.
One criminal citation was issued for minor in possession of alcohol.
The extra patrols were funded through a Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office grant.
