Aging Partners is warning seniors about a phone scam involving callers impersonating department staff and claiming the victim is owed a refund. The scammers reportedly transfer victims to a second person, who provides instructions for processing the supposed refund before asking for sensitive personal and financial information.
Two people recently reported the calls to Aging Partners. Both recognized the scam when financial information was requested and hung up. No money was lost. Aging Partners says it will never call to offer refunds or demand money, gift cards, gold bars or cryptocurrency.
Anyone who receives a suspicious call should hang up and avoid providing personal, credit card or banking information. Suspected calls can be verified by contacting Aging Partners at 402-441-7070 or reaching out to an established Aging Partners staff member.
