Families can explore the Lincoln Children’s Zoo after dark during the zoo’s popular Flashlight Safari events this fall. The after-hours program is designed for children ages 7 to 14 and gives participants a chance to discover the nighttime world of animals with exclusive evening access to the zoo.

Zoo officials say the experience includes an up-close encounter with a Nebraska native animal, games and crafts, a flashlight scavenger hunt, s’mores around a campfire, and a nighttime train ride through the zoo.

Children must be accompanied by an adult. Two Flashlight Safari sessions are scheduled from 6 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, and Saturday, October 3. Registration is now open, and advance sign-up is encouraged as space is limited.
