Hundreds of family members, friends and state leaders gathered Wednesday afternoon at Lincoln Northwest High School to welcome home Nebraska Army National Guard Soldiers returning from a four-month deployment to Washington, D.C.
The Soldiers, assigned to Operation Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful as part of Nebraska-led Task Force Wolf, spent the mission conducting street patrols, providing security at Metro stations and parks, and assisting law enforcement during large public events.
The Soldiers represented cavalry, infantry and military police units. Task Force Wolf also included National Guard members from Arkansas, North Dakota, Nevada and Iowa.
Governor Jim Pillen, Lt. Governor Joe Kelly, Nebraska Adjutant General Major General Craig Strong and the Task Force Wolf commander spoke at the ceremony.
