A 20-year-old Lincoln man has been arrested in connection with a deadly Memorial Day crash in northwest Lancaster County. The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says Jaziah Brown was taken into custody Monday after investigators determined he was under the influence of marijuana when the crash happened on May 25 at Northwest 84th and West O streets.

Brown has been cited on two counts of manslaughter and one count of DUI causing serious bodily injury. Investigators say Brown was driving a Ford Focus southbound on Northwest 84th Street when it failed to stop at the intersection and crashed into an eastbound Nissan Kicks.

The crash claimed the lives of two people. A passenger in the Ford Focus died after being taken to a Lincoln hospital. On June 3, authorities announced that 62-year-old Gay Wah of Lincoln, a passenger in the Nissan Kicks, also died from injuries suffered in the collision.

Eight people were taken to area hospitals following the crash. The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team completed its investigation before Brown’s arrest.
