Lincoln Police say alcohol played a role in a two vehicle crash near 13th and High Streets Tuesday night.  Investigators say a 24-year-old man was southbound on 13th street and  admitted he had been speeding and was unable to avoid hitting a second vehicle.

Police say the man told officers he drank six shots of Fireball Cinnamon Whisky, with the last one coming an hour before he got behind the wheel.  LPD Public Information manager Erika Thomas says the man was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Thomas says his blood alcohol level was .087 and he was cited for DUI 2nd offense and reckless driving.  The other driver was also taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
