Lincoln residents are invited to learn more about an upcoming Vine Street Construction Project at an open house on May 26. “This Lincoln on the Move project will focus on maintaining and improving the existing street and infrastructure,” says Erika Hill with Lincoln Transportation and Utilities.

“Improvements include full removal of the existing pavement and curb, street replacement with full depth concrete pavement, and widening Vine Street from 31 feet to 35 feet to meet state and federal standards for arterial streets.”

Additional work with other funding sources will include replacement of driveway approaches and reconstruction of pedestrian ramps to meet current federal and local standards. The improvement project is estimated to cost $1.36 million and will begin this summer.  Hill says  it’s expected the project will be completed this fall.

The pre-construction open house will be held Tuesday, May 26, regarding transportation improvements to Vine Street between 66th and 70th streets. The event will be from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Bethany Park Enclosed Shelter at North 65th and Vine streets.

Residents will be able to make comments and ask questions. Project information will be displayed, and personnel from LTU and the project team will be present to answer questions and receive comments.
