Severe storms pounded eastern Nebraska Sunday night, bringing heavy rain, strong winds and hail. National Weather Service Meteorologist Dirk Petersen tells KLIN News some of those storms left behind damage and they will be surveying those areas on Monday.
“Far southeast Saunders County, into Ashland, and then across the Platte River.” Petersen says two other areas to be surveyed include an just South of Plattsmouth into Iowa and in parts of Thurston County near the Highway 75 and 77 intersection.
Petersen says another round of severe storms is in the forecast Monday afternoon and evening in the Lincoln area. He says storms could impact the area between around 5:00 p.m. “That activity will carry with it a smaller tornado risk, but it won’t be anything to sleep on.”
He says large hail and damaging winds will be the main threats. Due to the possibility of heavy rain, a Flood Watch is in effect through Tuesday morning.
