Lincoln Crime Stoppers is looking for help tracking down suspects in a pair of forgery and fraud cases.
LPD’s Becky Keller says back on February 4th, a report was taken from Cato Fashions at 27th and Superior that they received some counterfeit money a couple days prior. Keller says they reviewed transactions and video footage which showed a woman purchasing a $25 gift card with a fake $100 bill, and receiving cash back for it.
She says they didn’t realize it until they took the cash to the bank and the bank informed them the cash was counterfeit. Two other reports were taken that this same individual did the same thing at Boot Barn and Tractor Supply store, both also on N. 27th Street.
Keller says she appeared to be driving a black Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross.

The second case happened on April 10. Keller says two individuals became the victims of a larceny, fraud, and forgery spree. The first victim reported she put a check in her mailbox near 17th and Superior and a man in a silver Nissan Murano SUV drove by and took the check from the mailbox.
She called the bank and had her account cancelled, but a little over a week later, Keller says she learned a check with her information on it was used at the North 27th Walmart fraudulently. Upon investigating this, officers connected another forged check passed under a male name at Bomgaars on 56th and Cornhusker. Officers contacted the owner of that account who stated the check must have been stolen from his mailbox near SW 70th and Old Cheney, along with his tax return which contained all of his personal identifying information.
On April 17th, the male victim called back to report someone tried to open a credit card online using his personal information. Video was obtained and the best photo of the suspect at Bomgaars is being shared here, along with that Nissan Murano SUV he was seen in.
