Lincoln residents now have a new way to enjoy one of the city’s most popular outdoor spaces. Lincoln Transportation and Utilities and ROAM Share showed off the new BikeLNK station at Holmes Lake Park Monday afternoon.
The addition expands access to the city’s bike share system and provides another convenient option for both recreation and active transportation. The new station sits on the north side of the park near the playground, adjacent to Parking Lot 4 and includes 10 docks.
Riders can choose from both classic bicycles and electric bikes. “A Holmes Lake Park station has been a goal of the BikeLNK team since the program’s start in 2018,” says Hunter Arias, BikeLNK City Manager.
“The lake’s scenic trail loop is popular among Lincolnites and intersects with the Billy Wolff Trail, connecting riders with the rest of the BikeLNK system. E-bikes are a joy for all ages and will greatly enhance the park’s recreational opportunities.”
BikeLNK leaders say the addition of e-bikes at the park will make cycling more accessible and enjoyable for people of all ages, while enhancing recreational opportunities in the area. LTU Director Liz Elliott says you can download the BikeLNK app on your phone to check out a bike or use the kiosk at the site.
Riders can rent a bike by the hour or the day or get a monthly or yearly pass. The bikes can be picked up and dropped at an BikeLNK station across the city. For more information, visit BikeLNK.com.
