Ohio State starting pitcher Gavin Kuzniewski threw eight innings of one run, four-hit ball as the Buckeyes locked down the bats of No. 16 Nebraska in a 2-1 Friday night win for OSU.

Kuzniewski (4-2) pitched into the ninth and kept the Cornhuskers (34-12, 17-5 Big Ten) scoreless for the first eight innings. Ryan Zamora came on with two on and none out after back-to-back walks. Drew Grego drove in a run with a ground out, putting a runner at second with two out. A wild pitch advanced the runner, Joshua Overbeek, to third. But Preston Freeman struck out looking to end the game.

Carson Jasa (8-2) was almost as good for Nebraska. But Ohio State (22-21, 11-11 Big Ten) pushed across runs with sacrifice flies by Grant Mangrum in the second inning and Lee Ellis in the sixth to build a 2-0 lead. Jasa allowed two earned runs in six innings.

The Huskers will try to even the series against the Buckeyes Saturday in Columbus, Ohio. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m., with pregame coverage beginning at 5:30 p.m. on KLIN.
