The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department says a 62-year-old Palmer woman who was injured in a crash on I-80 near Waverly April 14 has died. LSO says a pickup was pulling a trailer carrying several wood pallets.
Some of those pallets began falling off and LSO says Charlene Lautenschlager got out to remove them from the roadway. “While Charlene was attempting to pick up the wood pallets, she was run over by the trailer,” says Chief Deputy Ben Houchin.
She was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, including multiple fractures to her lower body. Lautenschlager died on Thursday. The investigation remains ongoing.
