Lincoln Police say phone threats received by staff at Northeast High School Friday afternoon turned out to be a hoax. LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says a call came in from anonymous number and a male voice on the line made threats toward the school and those inside.
“The LPD School Resource Officer immediately responded and LPS followed district policy to place the school in Secure,” Thomas says. “School administrators and the security team cleared the interior of the building while the SRO and other responding LPD officers cleared the exterior.”
Thomas says no threats were found and it was determined to be a swatting call. “LPD and LPS take threats like these seriously and both teams worked together for a swift, smooth response,” Thomas says.
The investigation is ongoing, including work to determine where the call originated from. Anyone with information is asked to call Lincoln Police at 402-441-6000. To remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600, report online at lincolncrimestoppers.com or download the free P3 app.
