A man wanted for murder in Beatrice is behind bars thanks to assistance from the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

Public Information Officer Kelsey Cruz says they received information that Justis Barnhouse was in Lancaster County on Tuesday. Deputies located Barnhouse and initiated a traffic stop near North 98th Street and the Interstate 80 overpass.

After multiple commands were given and not followed, a Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office K9 was deployed and Barnhouse was taken into custody and is now facing charges of second-degree murder, use of a firearm to commit a felony, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries and later released.  He is now in the Lancaster County Jail.   No law enforcement officers were injured during the incident.

LSO says the Beatrice Police Department, Nebraska State Patrol, Lincoln-Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force and the U.S. Marshals Service assisted in the arrest.
